Kindneys are although small in size (125 to 170grams for male and 115 to 155grams for femle) but it gets 25% of total blood circulation. Every minute it filters 1200ml of blood and removes the toxins out of the body by urine. Kindney also helps in calcium metabolism, blood pressure control, blood ph regulation, some hormone secretion, blood ion balance, chronic hypertension and diabetes effects kidney function and are the primary reason behind renal failure. Infection in kindney can cause inflammation called nephritis.

Forward bending yoga asanas- Paschimottanasana, Janusirasana, baddhakonasana, child pose or balasana, vajrasana, bhujamgasana, dhanurasana – are influential in balancing kindney function. But, when kidney gets infected or inflamed or cysts, cautions should be taken to practice asanas.
